It has basically been unmaintained for years now. It's no longer a useful thing to have. Those few people who still use SLIP are certainly using their own script work around slattach & co., and everybody using PPP is doing way better by using the well-documented and -maintained PPP implementations that ship with FreeBSD out of the box.
