Just did this, it stopped working between 19990417 and 19990418, at the same time as a lot of "miscellaneous" devices were added and the probe order was changed so that sc0 is probed after the IDE disks instead of first. It's also probed after atkbd0 now instead of before. The problem is 100% reproducible, but I'm not quite sure how to best find out what's happening.
