I would get a signal 11 error when I was doing custom installs also, the updated mfsroot.flp off the ftp server under the updates directory solved my problem. Boot the machine from floppy set up the options to get the files by ftp select upgrade At this point if I choose custom, or choose x-user followed by custom, then I repeatably get A signal 11 was caught - I'm saving what I can and shutting Tha machine then waits for you to re-boot it.
