[-- Attachment #1 --] I just searched google for words like hyped up kernel conf freebsd, or souped up, tweaked. Things like that. Then I got one I was comfortable with. At the very first I made a custom one with the help of the handbook. I disabled everything I do not use in my bios altogether such as a floppy, and USB, Then I looked thru LINT in /usr/src/sys/arch/conf/ and I made a kernel just for my system. The handbook is a good help for that as well as many sites a search engine like google will bring you too. Once you have a kernel fit for your machine, (only you can do that and the research that comes with) you can look at someones existing conf file that is tweaked, heres mine, http://www.unixhideout.com/ghost and add different things. I would not just add something if you don't know what it is. You will still have to research. Back up the file as you go and after a while youll have a great conf. Youll get better at it. Just don't expect to copy mine or anyone elses because it wont work. sagacious (Mike) Network administrator The unixhideout network http://www.unixhideout.com -----Original Message----- From: owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG [mailto:owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG] On Behalf Of MET Sent: Friday, July 26, 2002 5:24 PM To: freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: Customizing the Kernel Is there a really good tutorial on customizing the kernel to perfectly fit the machine.
