I have seen a similar problem on a Sun X4240 with 7.1-PRE. Using the ILOM remote keyboard works at the loader prompt but fails at the root filesystem prompt. I could work around the problem by attaching a different keyboard to the front USB port. Have you tried different keyboards? Regards, Jan.
