I don't use qmail so I'm completely useless on this, but I know a > lot of freebsd users do so if it were a widely distributed problem someone > else probably would have noticed by now. Well, this is 3.2-Stable fresh from Aug 25, thought I've made a RELEASE of it just to have the fresh installation dist. Since that time I've made few CVSups but have not seen big changes to /usr/src/sys and vital binaries... As I said in my first post (don't know whether you've seen it) I have two more 3.2-S machines where Qmail works very well. I believe it won't solve the problem even if I reinstall 3.2-S from my 3.2-R dist, cos I've done this over the existing system before, after an few times of "make worldinstalls". I think this should be of interest to FreeBSD community cos this time only I have noticed the problem next time who knows when this will be discovered, and maybe it will be next buffer overflow crack. When I debugged Qmail, I have noticed that after some function sets the envelope sender in a memory buffer then another doing something other destroyes this envelope sender to some "????????????viv.ua", "?????????lo0???" and "???????????ppp0??" or something like this. If I use 3.1-Stable kernel Qmail work well, when I alter 3.2-Stable kernel Qmail works soso, the best it can: sets good envelope sender, delivers and receives mail but fails to bounce correctly, saying that it can not deliver bounce to "??????acme.com" sender. I assume there is probably something wrong with FreeBSD, but who knows, may be this shows some weak side of Qmail. Best regards, Yaroslav.
