I think you're allowed if the file has already been taken off the vendor branch. amq.8 has: RCS file: /usr/cvs/src/contrib/amd/amq/amq.8,v Working file: amq.8 head: 1.5 branch: locks: strict Note the empty ``branch:'' line.
