I'm working in a Toshiba Magnia 3010, Pentium III 450Mhz, 128 Mb RAM,
it has two scsi pci cards:
ncr0: <ncr 53c875 fast20 wide scsi>rev 0x37 int a irq 11 on pci0.13.0
ncr1: <ncr 53c875 fast20 wide scsi>rev 0x37 int b irq 11 on pci0.13.1
and a scsi cd:
cd0: <TOSHIBA CD-ROM XM-6201TA 1037>
cd0: 10.000MB/s transfers (10.000MHz, ofset 16)
The problem seems to be the ncr1  scsi controller.
While installing FreeBSD 3.4 from CD or from floppy disks, installation
procedure stops after creating /etc/fstab
The message:  ncr1: timeout nccb=0xc0c10e00 (skip)
is issued several times.  Installation procedure gets stuck.
I tried NFS for installing.  It worked.  Nevetheless, the system
complained issuing:  ncr1: timeout nccb=.... everytime I tried
to access my CD.

Just try to install freeBSD from CD.
I tried also install from NFS.  It worked. Nevertheless, when the system
rebooted and started working, the ncr1 controller complained again.
I downloaded the corrected images of CD and floppies [according to the
errata file, the sysinstall program is broken]. The result was the same.

>Fix:
The problem of accessing CD disappeared when I recompiled the kernel.
with a minimal SCSI controllers.
