-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hi, Some friends and I are trying out this weird idea, we have one big disk/file/db server storing source and libraries, and it has super-fast drives, but bottle-neck in 10mbps LAN interface. What's worst, every now and then when someone does a big binary distribution /release back to the server, all other access to source files (read only in most cases) are getting unbearable NFS time-out! Ok, all the machines are FreeBSD 2.1R, anyway. Now, we want to dedicate a new interface and a separate `physical' segment for the server for big binaries write access, but without having to use up a different subnet (scarce). So, ideally, the new interface must be on the same logical subnet as the existing one, but it is on a different physical segment. Is this doable ? We are looking at some possibility to dedicate a 100Mbps segment for the heavy distribution process if this will work, at least in theory. From memory there is no restriction on physical interface and logical subnet. Please correct me if this is not true. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: 2.6.2i iQCVAwUBMNSls0mThh0X7Um5AQHWpQP/TlAgO3sKaKQH1Yft5PTpnjcQzlfuQ29Z asgiAKwqer24/l6T2Wspucw4e0K/L8p60fcpFkyeoHQEYeclFZb8rowPB78+XRzu 0eXMgpxGY5rUbm6KRHVwVUrHUZy0UEmazSO423uJCJuDE8xlWuNj5yQdM1aNYgH2 hPAeLpb/1Qg= =H+rt -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
