From what I recall of the ATA driver's author occasional remarks about
shitty UDMA-66 behaviour, it is not the HPT controler chip to blame,
but the Maxtor drive seems not to implement a proper UDMA-66!

I have the HPT / Maxtor combination as well, but had luck so far.
