I'd not expect anything from VMware in the foreseeable future. VirtualBox is open source now but someone with enough knowledge and time would have to work on porting it to FreeBSD. The hardest part of the work would be porting the kernel module, I guess. (CC to the list, now) -- If you think things can't get worse it's probably only because you lack sufficient imagination.
