Tell him he cannot claim it is not the hardware until he actually replaces the ram and cpu with truely known good ones and un-overclocks if he is oc'ing. Also try underclocking. I mention truely known good ones because I recently went through *3* bad cpu's before finding a useable one from our cpu stash at work.
