Dear Rasmus Kaj,

I can't recall exactly when and where I read about "usr" and "Unix=20
System Resources" (once upon a time ...) =20

I have chanced to recover one of the sources -- although I am not sure=20
it is the most authoritative :-)=20
http://www.vmunix.com/fbsd-book/book.phtml, 10.3 Step 2) Allocate=20
Filesystem Space:

<blockquote>

/usr

    The bulk of the system is contained in the /usr, or UNIX System=20
Resources directory. Depending on your systems intended use and
    available disk space, you should reserve at least 100M for the=20
/usr directory. Usually you would allocate the most disk space for=20
this
    partition.

</blockquote>

Misconception ? Afterconstruction ? Quot homines, tot sententiae ?
Where is the etymon, ie the "truth" ? :-)

Best regards,
Salvo
