If you have it set up to.

It depends on what mode of cvsup you're running in.  In checkout mode,
cvsup will squash your edits (I think).  If you're in CVS mode, then the
subsequent `cvs update' will merge to the best of it's ability -- if you
want it to do it Right then commit your changes on a private branch.
