Jordan's comments are dead on - yes, there was a mistake, but it was fixed (hopefully), and the turnaround time was very fast. I don't think you'll see this kind of attention anywhere else - even in the linux community. As it stands, it should be a common-sense assumption that if you're an early adopter, you're taking on risks.
