We work on shared library support in LAME 3.88, but 3.88 is still in CVS and not ready to be used as a shared library. I'm in doubt LAME 3.70 can really be used as a shared library (too much unsharable global variables). If it works for you jump around and be happy, but please don't release this to the public.
