I do agree completely, based on what I know now, that this isn't likely to = be in any sense a Firefox-specific issue, and I am happy to see it assigned to someone who may be closer to to both the actual problem and its remedy. P.S. Curiously, after disabling these troublesome bitmapped fonts on my sy= stem and killing and then restarting X, I noticed -zero- obvious ill effects from the change, and indeed, the only effect that I noticed at all was that now,= the conversion of HTML to PDF, by Firefox, in preparation for printing a web pa= ge looks one hell of a lot better than it did before the change.
