What you need to do is compile in sound support into your kernel. FreeBSD
by default does not enable any sound cards in the default kernel. look for
a file on your PC called LINT. This file has every kernel config known to
the FreeBSD world. Check that out on how to get your sound card working
then consult the online documentation on how to create your custom kernel
and compiling it. Hope this helps.

Subject: KDE and sound

My KDE displays error message during startup. Something like: "Can't
find /dev/dsp. Device is not configured. Sound subsystem will use nill
device."
I did " cd /dev; sh MAKEDEV dsp" , but I am getting same error.
I've cheched /dev directory, and it contains all device nodes, including:
/dev/audio
/dev/dsp
/dev/dspW
/dev/midi
/dev/mixer
/dev/music
/dev/sequencer
/dev/pss

Please, give me any suggestions?
Thanks
Vitaly
