How hard would it be to "fix" ld?  Would it be possible to get ld to 
accept "-ltk.4" and/or "-ltk.3" and/or "-ltk.3.6" as link options, like 
some OS does that I cannot remember right now?

(I have a vague idea that it might be Linux, but I dont really know...)
