i have a dual proc 3gHz AMD Opteron box that i want to run java on, so it looks like i have to use the i386 build (any news on the jdk coming to AMD?). from what i've gathered, this should not be a problem and performance should be at least par compared to to running on a Xeon. is this true? i even seem to remember hearing rumor that the Opteron could even run i386 code faster, mHz to mHz, than a Xeon? thanks.
