Turns out that this is a case of PEBKAC (Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair). For the record, I had my 'output plugin' set to the ' 'DiskWriter' plugin, which saves WAV files instead of playing the mp3's on the soundcard. Once I switched it back to the OSS output driver (soundcard), everything works great, streaming SHOUTcast and all.
