Last net suite I touched was NQS, > 6, 6+ years back. I was experimenting with it recently, trying to get the server to work. After a file open problem was discovered, I tried auplay, and it wouldn't work. Then I setenv'ed AUDIOSERVER to the same as DISPLAY, and it worked fine. This was under -current.
