I haven't been able to narrow down the source of the panic. Have you tried the debuging kernel? (http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/bsd/2002/03/21/Big_Scary_Daemons.html) I have set it up but unfortunatly my swap partition is smaller than my physical memory.
