It looks like it worked the first time as sio4 (COM5), but not the
second time.  Did you change something with regards to pccardd the
second time?

What do you mean when you say you cannot communicate with it?  Are you
using /dev/cuaa4, which is not even a part of the standard install?

You might want to remove sio2 through sio4 from your kernel.
