You can read about the history and development of *BSD on our WWW
site (www.FreeBSD.org). But to find out for yourself give them a
try. Both are free so it will only cost your time to install them
and evaluate which of them fits best your needs.

Yes, in FreeBSD we have a linux emulator, that makes most linux
software run on FreeBSD.
