What would be handy would be a snippet of code to take ${LANG} and return the cannonical locale name (ja -> ja_JP.EUC) or an error if it is invalid. [Is it really necessary to have all those symlinks anyway? To me it just seems to confuse things, but then I'm a novice when it comes to localization. Which brings up another point, would anyone be interested in writing up an overview of i18n/localization facilities in FreeBSD?
