Package Names" gives rules and examples for naming ports. Some ports/packages have a need for their names to state the papersize or resolution they are built for. The rule for PKGNAME should become: `[language-]-[compiled.specifics-]' FreeBSD strives to support the native language of its users. The `[language-]' part if needed should be a two letter abrreviation stating the natural language the port supports. Examples are `jp' for Japanese and `ru' for Russian. The `[compiled.specifics-]' part if needed should state the hardcoded defaults compiled in, when several versions of a port may be built. Examples are papersize and font units. With some added examples: DISTNAME PKGNAME Reason psutils-1.13 psutils-letter-1.13 default papersize hardcoded at package build time nethack-1.0.3 jp-nethack-1.0.3 Japanese language version pkfonts-1.0 jp-pkfonts240-1.0 Japanese language version and 240 (unit???) font >How-To-Repeat: n/a >Fix: Add above to the current handbook. >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted:
