Many years ago, I got a Canon (yes, I know) laser printer to work. On "Windows", it was not possible - no driver anymore. On FreeBSD, I installed the Linux ABI and the "CCP" program provided for Linux, "plumbed" that into the strange construct of files and sockets into CUPS, and the printer worked again.
