The last version appears to work, although it was developed on observation, not understanding, if you know what I mean ;-) If you have complicated shell scripts, would you please test -current's /bin/sh (with eval.c v. 1.25) on it? Critical are long pipelines, especially in backquote or here-documents and when receivers (not senders) terminate the run.
