Hello folks, I have taken a lot of useful patches from Ubuntu Linux. I don't have any= = of printer in my hand at the moment, so I will need someone to test it f= or = me. You can use either two patches or two tarballs of full ports. Downlo= ad = two files (libgnomecups and gnome-cups-manager) from = http://people.freebsd.org/~mezz/diff/ . You need to make sure you have all installed ports to have the latest = version such as cups should be 1.2.7. Make sure to uninstall libgnomecup= s = and gnome-cups-manager first. After that, install libgnomecups first and= = gnome-cups-manager second. If you use tarballs, then just extract and ge= t = in to do the 'make install'. If you use patch, then following the steps:= # cd /usr/ports/print # patch -p0 < /path/to/libgnomecups.diff # patch -p0 < /path/to/gnome-cups-manager.diff # find libgnomecups -name \*.orig -delete # find gnome-cups-manager -name \*.orig -delete Uninstall and install both of these ports. As for the cups setup, sorry, I don't know much about cups. You can read= = in print/cups-base/pkg-message for what you are supposed to setup with = cups and add cupsd_enable=3D"YES" in /etc.rc.conf. You need to make sure= you = have cups running or gnome-cups-manager will complaining about that you = = don't have cups running. After that, try to run gnome-cups-manager (by = either via command or click in menu) to see if you can add printer and d= o = the stuff from there. BTW: I am not sure if it is required to have usbd_enable=3D"YES" in = /etc/rc.conf if you are using USB printer. If it does, then let me know.= Cheers, Mezz -- = mezz7@cox.net - mezz@FreeBSD.org FreeBSD GNOME Team - FreeBSD Multimedia Hat (ports, not src) http://www.FreeBSD.org/gnome/ - gnome@FreeBSD.org http://wiki.freebsd.org/multimedia - multimedia@FreeBSD.org
