	FreeBSD 3.1-RELEASE as retrieved on 3/18.  dual 400 mhz pentium
ii's, 512 megs ram, adaptec 2940 controller, 9 gig scsi barracuda
drive(seagate).  known good machine, was running 2.2.8-stable.

	did clean install of 3.1-release.  rebooted, rebuilt kernel
(maxusers=512, nmbclusters=16384, removed unused device entries).  rebooted,
kernel crashed after mounting partitions.
rebooted, built debugging kernel and did strip -g on a copy. installed copy. 
set up dumpdev to point to swap, and had savecore run on crash.
NOTE: setting MAXMEM=32768 caused kernel to boot with no problems.  however,
this machine had been in use for several months running 2.2.8-stable.  also,
have experienced this with 4 other known good machines.
