Problem #1 (Kris knows this one already): as it turned out, I had put "/ports/palm" in the "refuse" file for cvsup - the stale files apparently weren't a problem until today. Removing the "palm" ports, and leaving the "refuse" file intact, allowed the index to get past that point. Problem #2: the new INDEX compile barfed at "/print/gp". This port, according to the mailing list at "cvs-all", was effectively gutted as of 3 AM this morning. The folder was still there in my ports tree, but there was nothing in it. So, when "make describe" hit that port, it responded with "don't know how to make" and stopped. Taking the "gp" port folder to the trash allowed "make describe" to get all the way through the "print" directory without barfing. Gonna give it another try, and I'm hopeful that it will be successful this time. Thanks for bearing with me on this. --- Kris Kennaway wrote: > On Tue, May 06, 2003 at 05:29:37PM -0700, Robert English > wrote: > > Hello - > > > > just a few minutes ago, after doing the regular daily cvsup, > the > > index compile broke - it left this message at the top of the > > resulting index file: > > > > *** Error code 1||||||| > > Stop in /usr/ports/palm.||||||| > > Stop in /usr/ports.||||||| > > Stop.||||||| > > There is no COMMENT variable defined||||||| > > for this port.
