I'm all for keeping down the number of surprises one gets, by following examples. I'd object to -w staying in the docs after it becomes obsolete and starts printing warnings like: root@hades[15:10]/root# sysctl -w net.inet.tcp.newreno=1 sysctl: warning: The -w option is deprecated.
