I have checked everything I can possibly think of, I know for a fact that the sound card is functioning properly, but still no luck. I would really like to not have to boot down to Win98 every time I want to listen to a CD. Here's what I know for sure: 1. Yes, there is a cable connecting the CD-Rom drive to the sound card. I installed it myself, and I am able to play audio CD's in Win98. 2. I have configured my environment variable correctly for xcd. I am able to play audio CD's and listen to them through the built-in headphone jack, but I can't get the sound to come out of my sound card. 3. I have the mixer device configured properly. Here's the output: Mixer vol is currently set to 90:90 Mixer bass is currently set to 75:75 Mixer treble is currently set to 75:75 Mixer synth is currently set to 75:75 Mixer pcm is currently set to 74:74 Mixer speaker is currently set to 75:75 Mixer line is currently set to 75:75 Mixer mic is currently set to 16:16 Mixer cd is currently set to 75:75 Mixer igain is currently set to 75:75 Mixer ogain is currently set to 75:75 4. I am pretty certain that I have compiled my soundcard (sounblaster 16 compatible) into the kernel correctly. It plays .wav and .au files, and I have no problem getting sound effects out of Doom. 5. Oddly, though, I can't get music out of Doom (dunno if this is related to my audio CD problem) and I also can't play MP3's. This is the error I get when trying to play MP3's using x11amp: Incompatible OSS Driversoss sysinfo=537358976: 0 Warning: Unable to set fragment size!! Unable to get fragment size 6. My sound card is a "sound blaster compatible" card that has the following settings: IO: 0220-022F IRQ: 05 DMA: 01 DMA: 05 Here is what I have included in my kernel: controller snd0 device sb0 at isa? port 0x220 irq 5 drq 1 vector sbintr device sbxvi0 at isa? drq5 device sbmidi0 at isa? port 0x330 If anyone can help with this, it would be greatly appreciated.
