Fair enough. When I first started whining about this issue, I did mention that I could imagine that there'd be ports for which overriding CFLAGS would be the logical thing to do. I just want to be sure that this remains the exception rather than the rule. It seems that a lot of software comes packaged with Makefiles demanding -O6 because "that's what all the other c00l dud3z use". :-) Ciao, Sheldon.
