If so, just login as root and then # cd / # /bin/chmod 755 * cd is a shell builtin so it will work You need to specify the full path for any other command since you turned searching off but reading is still on for root. You can then cleanup with # chmod 644 .cshrc .profile boot.config boot.help kernel.config # chmod 444 COPYRIGHT # chmod 555 kernel # chmod 555 proc That should fix everything for you.
