Well, the whole gamin thing seems a bit confusing to me. Why is this
attempt to replace an (apparently flawlessly) working software with
another one that only supports a subset of the first ones features?

Has the development of fam been stopped? Does it have other major
disadvantages? Or is this just some gnome people having a power-trip?
