Hi. On a dual opteron system with 4 GB of physical RAM and 12 BG of swap running 5.2.1, I am running a job that produces a seg fault when it appears to approach the 8GB mark. Limits are reported as follows: Resource limits (current): cputime infinity secs filesize infinity kb datasize 8388608 kb stacksize 524288 kb coredumpsize infinity kb memoryuse infinity kb memorylocked infinity kb maxprocesses 5547 openfiles 11095 sbsize infinity bytes vmemoryuse infinity kb and am thinking that it might be the datasize limitation. I have searched the man and faq as to how to modify datasize to be 12GB (limits -d 12g) but would like to change this in general. I looked in /etc/login.conf and see it is unlimited for the default class (datasize=unlimited). My question is, how can I change this to avoid this limit in general? Thanks for your time and efforts. dmesg follows. dmesg Copyright (c) 1992-2004 The FreeBSD Project.
