I've been testing a DPT SmartRAID VI card (PM1543U3) before putting
it into a server. It seems to work quite well and be easy to set up
from the ROM at boot time. One of the tests was to remove one of
the disks from a RAID-1 configuration while the OS was running. This
worked as expected. But putting the disk back in didn't appear to
have any effect. (In particular, it didn't turn off the loud on-board
alarm. The person running that test didn't let it run long enough to
see if it actually rebuilt automatically.)

Which leads me to the search for some way to control the board while
the OS is running. The DPT web site indicates that the dptutil program
isn't yet available for FreeBSD (or BSD/OS), and they only mention
FreeBSD 2.2.8. Is there anything in 3.4 or 4.0 that would let me
perform the RAID configuration from the command line? Or at least
shut off the alarm?

Thanks,
-Pat
