I activated the xdm tty: ttyv8 "/usr/X11R6/bin/xdm -nodaemon" xterm on secure This fixed the getty problem so now they all apear in the ps list, including the ttys Thanks for the help Daniel -----Original Message----- From: Panagiotis Astithas [mailto:past@netmode.ntua.gr] Sent: 31 January 2001 15:30 To: Daniel Brady Cc: 'freebsd-stable@FreeBSD.ORG' Subject: Re: Problem with Null Modem connection On Wed, Jan 31, 2001 at 12:53:11PM -0000, Daniel Brady wrote: > The other machine (winnt laptop) is set t0 9600 8-N-1 I had originally tried > with dialup in the /etc/ttys. Perhaps when you do 'kill -1 1' some error messages are logged in /var/log/{messages,console}? Is any other getty process running? Maybe there is some syntax error in /etc/ttys? I have never experienced such behavior so I am rather guessing at this moment. -past To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-stable" in the body of the message
