The great virtue of newlib, is that it is so similar to our libs that we could, perhaps, cross compile all our ports tree. What's really new about cygnus' stuff are the patches so that no native libs are required to build the cross-compiler. A cross-compiling port will only need to change the target name and BINGO! Another new thing, that hasn't been upgraded yet on either glibc or newlib, is that DJGPP 2 doesn't need their specific DPMI to execute programs.
