Actually, it appears it does.  :)  Doing google searches for Niclas'
suggestion of netcat brought up mbuffer.  Some quick testing shows that
should work for us.  Just doing a test run of our snapshot sending script
now.

Took a bit of finagling with the options and still have some work to get
the logging right, but it's working.
