Can we quantify this? : Yes, but it would take the resources of someone less humble in networking capabilities than myself to do it. I'd like to see what network perforamnce is when, say 1000 routes are in your routing table. How long does it take for 1000 users to connect and get different 1M files (or one of 100 1M files), etc. These sorts of load testing is generally beyond the means of many people, but I think it is an area where FreeBSD would shine.
