Compatibility patch written by Jim Harris

Despite the smartctl ticket, you might consider the attached compatibility
patch written by Jim Harris (see
http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-scsi/2014-July/006382.html), which
has worked well for me in FreeBSD 10.0.
