I don't see why the rest of us have to be inflicted with your patch just because you don't like the default behaviour of cvs and you have commit privileges on the FreeBSD repository. Stop being lazy and do it the right way. There are guidelines for contrib software and I don't think your patch meets the spirit of those guidelines.
