And CXX, if appropriate. Note that you can't easily get most ports which
USE_IMAKE to use these variables at build-time (although there are some ports
which can be hacked to do this) - they seem to be decided at build-time of the
XFree86 port.

I don't think these "rules" are made too explicit in the handbook at present -
I've been meaning to learn SGML and work on updating the porting docs..
