Well I prefer ${PREFIX} since that means you end up putting all of your '3rd party' stuff (or as much of it as you can sanely convert) into the one place.. ie by default all your 3rd party stuff lives in /usr/local... And there are already a lot of 'X11' apps which don't live in /usr/X11R6. I think leaving the 'base system' uncluttered is a good idea lest something gets overwritten by a port. --- Daniel O'Connor software and network engineer for Genesis Software - http://www.gsoft.com.au "The nice thing about standards is that there are so many of them to choose from." -- Andrew Tanenbaum --_=XFMail.1.3.1.p0.FreeBSD:990920104033:17161=_ Content-Type: application/pgp-signature -----BEGIN PGP MESSAGE----- Version: 2.6.3ia iQCVAwUBN+WJiVbYW/HEoF9pAQEwwQQAhJw+KdJXWl0cuLXp/YytT0Fc5xn+Ab2+ dcTBkGI4tXtlNgEPaFzJDzG/pTn/DcyR9dD8+rIAWc8CgX2KY7yV3CcL6kkzL7gl HTbiYdzOAdFao47UkoWMLWlWOOlGwBPE+caUAFSj4BguRLtD+XW5wWf3rPXyGD4e 5GYTROff5Fc= =YAQz -----END PGP MESSAGE----- --_=XFMail.1.3.1.p0.FreeBSD:990920104033:17161=_-- End of MIME message To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe cvs-all" in the body of the message
