The PIII/450 is roughly as fast as K6-3/400, but costs a bunch more. The K6-3 is a killer chip, unless you need fast floating point ;^) (sorry, can't say "fast floating point" and "x86" without smiling) or SMP. The K6 motherboard and case will both probably cost less, too. Caution: I'm an AMD "advocate," not to mention a shareholder. I own several K6 systems, and would buy more. YMMV.
