D'Oh! You're quite right. It's even in 4.10-STABLE. Open mouth, insert foot. On the question of being able to divide the base system into separate chunks of various programs which you can upgrade independently of the rest: that sounds perilously close the 'packagisation of the base system' argument that (like one of the Elder Gods) an incautious word can awaken from its slumber of aeons to push its tentacles into the various FreeBSD lists, spreading madness, despair and freshly painted bikesheds as it does. Almost everybody thinks it's a pretty sensible idea; no one has come up with sample code or a feasible road map for doing the job that doesn't entail massive disruption to the usual course of FreeBSD development Cheers, Matthew --=20 Dr Matthew J Seaman MA, D.Phil. 26 The Paddocks Savill Way PGP: http://www.infracaninophile.co.uk/pgpkey Marlow Tel: +44 1628 476614 Bucks., SL7 1TH UK --k+w/mQv8wyuph6w0 Content-Type: application/pgp-signature Content-Disposition: inline -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.6 (FreeBSD) iD8DBQFBjlBkiD657aJF7eIRAvELAJ9fd+bPM4QxmBcIi/m9ni9IIyf4mwCePZVC i8zq2fG3tLSHwllBAG2r6Zw= =vz8u -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --k+w/mQv8wyuph6w0--
