Which e-mails are you talking about?

To all, let me repeat: do not make any changes related to patch
behavior (either 2.5 upgrade or cvs hack back-out) in the ports tree
or bsd.port.mk yet.  When we decide what to do with patch on both
-stable and -current, we will coordinate the changes and I'll update
the upgrade kits.
